AHAA Show Rules
1. All horses must be registered with the Andalusian Horse Association of Australasia or their relevant Breed Association and the full registered name of the horse is to be used when entering/competing at any AHAA Show.
2. Owners must be financial members of the AHAA or their relevant Breed Associations for all Andalusian Shows and Andalusian classes at Shows. Any rider/handler who is not a financial member of the AHAA will be required to sign a non-member Waiver to cover Products and Public Liability Insurance requirements..
3. The Show Committee reserves the right to alter or delete any or all of the program without prior notice.
4. The judge’s decision will be final. A judge’s decision represents an individual preference and is unable to be protested against unless it is held to be in violation of a rule.
5. Any person insulting or interfering with the Judges during the Show will be asked to leave the Show and any prizes awarded to him/her will be forfeited.
6. Protests must be lodged with the Show Secretary in writing and signed by the applicant within one (1) hour of the completion of the actual event accompanied by a deposit of $50 which shall be forfeited to the Association if the protest be considered unfounded or frivolous. In the case where a veterinarian is required to attend a protest, the cost will be at the expense of the person lodging the protest and will be payable prior to the vet’s attendance. This fee will be refunded should the protest be upheld. The protest will be considered as soon as possible by the Show Committee.
7. An EA approved safety helmet (described on the EA website), with chin straps fastened, must be worn at all times when mounted. Two exceptions to this are:
a. Riders 26 years and over riding Prix St Georges dressage and above may wear a top hat.
b. Riders over the age of 18 years riding in costume classes may wear headwear appropriate for the costume. Costume classes will be conducted at the walk only.

8. The age of exhibits is to be taken from 1st August.
9. At any time except when stabled, entires must be handled with (a) a bit (b) a combination of a halter and chain (c) a seretta or (d) with any combination of the above.
10. Handlers of stallions (owners/riders/grooms) and any other person in charge of a stallion over the age of 12 months must comply with the current EA Stallion Safe Practice Rules and Regulations found on the EA web site. This includes:
a. Colts/stallions over the age of 12 months must wear compliant Stallion Identification by way of green discs or green bridle number holders displayed clearly on both sides of the horse’s head (attached to
bridle or halter) or both sides of the saddle cloth.
b. The EA Stallion Identification Card, printable from the EA website, with a green background and displaying the name/s and phone number/s of the person/s responsible for the stallion during the event must be displayed on floats/trucks that transport colts/stallions and also the outside of the stable or yard of the stallion.
c. Riders and/or handlers of colts/stallions must be over the age of 18 years.
11. No horse may compete under the influence of performance modifying substances at Shows.
12. At AHAA events full consideration is given to the welfare of the horse. No person may abuse a horse which is within their care. “Abuse” means an action and/or omission and/or application of equipment that causes or is likely to cause pain or unnecessary discomfort to a horse including without limitation any of the following:
a. whipping or beating a horse excessively
b. using spurs excessively or persistently
c. using any device or equipment in any manner which causes excessive discomfort to the horse including but not limited to bits and nosebands etc.)
d. leaving a horse without adequate food or water
e. ensuring the horse’s comfort is adequate to the weather conditions
f. using medication or otherwise to mask health or injury issues
g. competing on an animal experiencing health or discomfort symptoms.
13. The trimming of whiskers around the muzzle and eyes or inner ear hair is a welfare issue and not allowed.
14. No horse under the age of three (3) years shall be ridden at an AHAA Show.
15. Places in classes shall be up to 4th place if there are under 10 horses in the class and 6th place if there are over 10 horses in the class. All AHAA High Points and Most Successful Exhibitor awards apply to AHAA registered horses only.
16. The wearing of stud logos is not permitted on any item of clothing/saddle cloth while competing in Andalusian classes.
17. Andalusians are not permitted to be shown with false tails in Led or Ridden Breed classes.
18. EA Dressage tests will be run according to EA Rules.
